Latest acquisition

#1 Post by Sandgroper »

Picked up my latest acquisition today - a New England Firearms Handi Rifle in 45-70.

The pictures don't really do it justice (photos from Minsterley Ranges, from whom I bought it - I'll take some myself later.) I think it is quite a elegant rifle, in looks, operation and handling - a handi rifle it is!

It's also fitted with a peep sight, which I'm not too keen on but I'll give it go and see how I go, but the issued irons a really good.

One thing that took me by surprise (and the cat! ) was the ejector as it really flung out the snap caps.

I can see this becoming a firm favourite. :good:

I like those Handi single shots, great cast boolit rifles.

Nice rear sight, I you wish to sell it let me know. I have a Stevens break barrel in 32-20 just waiting for it.

Will do. Roger will be casting some boolits for me to try out - something to occupy me over the Christmas/New Year period. :good:

Now I do like that!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Nice isn't it - looks even better in the flesh. As a consolation for giving up on my 45 ACP conversion plan, I'm well chuffed!

Don't know, the serial number puts it as a 1996 make.

If you like the NEF - my Rossi single shot
