Brattonsound Panel Removal

#1 Post by MrD »

Hi

I've noticed the lock linkage on my Brattonsound cabinet has become stiffer over the past few months. Having time on my hands I thought I'd have a look. Does anyone know the trick to removing the door's inside panel? I assumed that after removing the four screws it would slide off but no luck. Are there locking lugs? It's loose-ish but doesn't seem to want to come off and I don't want to use force and risk distorting it.
The cabinet is vault locking with one single key.
Cheers

Have just checked mine - 6 screws possibly due to width.

Remove screws and maybe just run a thin plastic strip between panel and door to check it has not "stuck" itself. As you look at the door from the inside the panel is very tight under a lip. Just ease to the left and it will slowly move and at the left hand end there may be a small gap on the return you can get a finger in to help ease it.

Was just tight under the lip. The way it was rattling I thought it was being held in place.

Word of warning.....I took the panel off my Brattonsound about 15 years ago....and it's still sitting next to the cabinet as I couldn't gt it back on again 8-)

Plus side....you get a bit of extra space for pistol grips to poke into when the door is closed :good:

Donald,

Can I ask, is the Ramnee Hotel still going? I stayed there a few times many years back and always enjoyed it.
