Russian 7.62x54R Neck sizing
Hello
Has anybody else tried this technique for a simple 7.62x54R Mosin Nagant neck sizing
I have been using my Swiss 7.5mm full length sizing die, there is clearance for the Russian case
and the neck is sized approx. 60% of its length works for me using 311s

Most of the 7.62x54mmR dies have a .308" sizing stem to allow the use of .30 cal bullets. You can ask the die manufacturer for .311" stems to replace the .308" ones which should work better for typical Russian rifles.
I don't bother neck sizing nowadays if truth be told. I've set up my full length sizing die to bupm the shoulders back 0.002" comrade with a fired round. I find that the ammo chambers better (doesn't feel so tight turning the bolt handle down) and doesn't significantly decrease brass size compared to a full length sizing operation according the instructions given with the dies.

Or use a 7.5 swiss Lee collet die. A bit of fine adjustment will get you the neck size you need.

Or use a .308 neck die with a washer over the case to offset the length difference.
Re: Russian 7.62x54R Neck sizing
Nowadays I use a set of Lee 7.62x54 loaders for most of my nagant neck sizing. I also have a set of RCBS neck dies and a bushing die I modified my self. All though I rarely load for the Nagant these days.

The second link is me and Adam having a debate about sizing the cartridge. I am dhtaxi and still a moderator on Milsurp after hours. Adam (dromia) was also a moderator at one time.

Yes it has been deleted. No idea why it was just a couple of posts on a forum Adam used to visit and of which I am a moderator.
