Preconditions to shoot at Bisley
Ranges near my home (close to Cirencester , Glos) are a little thin on the ground and I am planning to visit Bisley ASAP to expand my shooting from 200 yards max at Severside in Wales and then jumping to 1000 yards at Warminster MOD range. (Although I could go to Kingsbury near Birmingham with Offas Dyke club)
Can anyone tell me what specific conditions I must meet to be able to shoot at Bisley?
I obviously have an FAC and am a member of NRA affiliated clubs (Severnside and Offas Dyke) although I am not actually an NRA member directly.
I also have my competency certificate for using MOD ranges.
Do I need to provide any other certification or paperwork?
I would also like to take my son and he has an FAC & is NRA affiliated through our club BUT he does not have the MOD range certificate.
Advice much appreciated

You either need to be a member of the NRA or have your local club book the shooting for you.

or if you are a BASC member they will book via their website, although I have not personally used this service.

Kenny, is that an M1 Garand with a case just coming out of the ejection port, in your avatar?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Thanks for the feedback ......Its not so much the 'mechanics' of bookings that I am trying to clarify but more whether or not they will require anything more specific than a club NRA affiliation provides.
Cheers

Dave T,
Which club are you in at Severnside, Richard Williams' or Tony Morgan's?
Have you asked either to arrange competency certification? You need it at Bisley I believe.

As far as I know you as a private person cannot book if you are not a member of the NRA.
Your club can book for you but then it is a club booking and our old club always said then all members have to go to the shoot.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

Its Richards.... but I already have range competency via Offas Dyke club..... My son doesn't so I may need to get that sorted out before he can go to Bisley with me.
