Red Polishing Tumbler Media

#1 Post by Sim G »

Having a serious brain fart. What’s the red polishing media called and where can I get some....

Thanks!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Jewelers rouge not sure thats the correct spelling. You should be able to get it on line. You can get it on ebay.

Is there any unique benefit to it?

I thought Jewelers rouge was a messy & dusty option, superseded by cleaner modern polishes.

Bought my last lot from Fultons at Bisley, although my local dealer Roding Armoury stock it now.

I bought some to replace the old media my tumbler came with..

Horrid stuff, leaves everything with a dusty tinge, like it has been sat out in tge desert..

Buy some very nice fine walnut blasting grit (or reptile bedding), small enough to slip through primer holes and gives a lovely finish :)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401116353315

That's for 5Kg which is enough for about 3 fills of a Lyman 1200 size tumbler
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

Thanks fellas! I’ve been using the “red stuff” for as long as I can remember but then couldn’t remember it! I had bought some Lyman Tumbler Media Rejuvenator. Well, it didn’t rejuvenate it, it fvcked it! Got to replace the media in three tumblers...

Is that stuff any good, Jeff? Make ‘en shiny?

I have ordered some it should arrive on Tuesday I will tumble some cases and let you know. My tumbler like yours is currently charged with the lyman red stuff its been in there for years I keep meaning to change it.
So I bought some of the stuff jeff posted I will probably get a tub of jewelers rouge as well and add a bit to the corn cob and see how it performs. Gotta love the power of the internet. lol
