Not something I need to worry about presently, but I noticed my club competency card has various categories deleted. One of these is target shotgun, which is something I might care to try in the future, but my club does not do this.
Am I correct to think I would need to join a club which does do target shotgun, and then go through their probationary period, if successful to be given another competency card for shotgun alone by that club?

Q2 - competency card
Careful now/that sort of thing
Re: Q2 - competency card
NO
IF you can prove to the chap that you do have skills/knowldge in Target Shotgun, such as some competition results, or a UKPSA course...then they should be happy to sign that part for you
The card is ONLY for MoD ranges - club ranges that allow slug, you don't need the card
