Versa pod question

I have a versa pod which I really like but I have been thinking about buying the version which has the locking cant and tilt. I just wondered can the original be upgraded?

Not easily as I have tried it. Closest you can get easily is to use a longer spigot with a friction device on the end such as a thumb wheel and fibre washer.
