Ebay anomaly - selling barrels?

Just seen this:

You probably know that eBay, the internet’s #1 auction site, forbids sales of firearms, actions, and ammunition. eBay has, in the past, also banned listings of a wide variety of gun components and accessories. However, eBay just issued a new policy allowing sales and auctions of more gun-related products. The “green light” has been given to sales of barrels, bolts, clips and magazines (10 rounds or less), triggers, firing pins, and hammers. In addition, listings of pistol slides and revolver cylinders are now allowed.

Even with the policy changes, “the listing of firearms, replica firearms, ammunition, and other firearm-related items is still prohibited on eBay.” In addition there remain some special restrictions: “You may now show your accessories on a firearm in your photo, as long as it is not an assault weapon and there is no indication in the listing that the firearm is included in the sale. You and all of the items listed must be located in the US and you must only offer domestic shipping on these items.” eBay’s new gun component policies are set forth in the following notice issued to eBay sellers.

Sandgroper, Could it be because of the difference in laws between the two countries and that Evilbay doesn't want to run foul of the UK authorities.

Possible, but as they also prohibit sales of those types of items between UK customers as well, I feel it's more to limit liability and a generalised 'anti' stance by e bay in the UK.

Bear in mind that to safeguard the community, we may also ban other related items that are legal to sell outside of eBay.

Hmmm I would think that the US Ebay being the parent company and being anti gun also, it would set local policy, so as I said it doesn't want to run foul of local laws. Laws here regarding firearms parts a a lot more relaxed, also folks from the UK sell parts on the dot com site.

Whilst blatting around eBay yesterday I cam across a couple of "oh are they allowing that" items - I know we originally discussed this re the USA but all these items were on the UK eBay site.

Howa 10 round magazine (with bullets shown in photograph)

Once used .223 Lapua brass - advert says some with live primers, which I had to questioned the sense in that - they could be bought by someone who is not a re loader who may not know how to remove the primer safely.

And lastly a X trigger for a Remington 700.

Do any of our eBay traders know if there has been any official release or do you think I just saw these items before they were "pulled"?

I reckon you got to see them before they were pulled. Ebay came under huge pressure from the UK government in what to allow. Knives were a prime example. Scroates weren't going on to ebay and buying 150 Spyderco's to stab each other with, but that didn't matter. Likewise, I found some Magpul ladder type rail covers. My ebay uk account wouldn't let me purchase these items as it was weapon related!!!

I found a seller in Bulgaria selling en-bloc clips for the Steyr M95. He was offering to post them everywhere except the UK! I queried him about this and he said it was due to e-bay UK pulling his listings. We managed to sort it out and hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday I should have 5 more clips for my Steyr :shakeshout:
