The 6.5x55 is also incredibly easy and cheap to "feed" - mine was shooting .3" and .4" groups @ 100 yds with 33.5 and 34gr of Varget and 140gr FMJ bullets last night.

That's good to know. I wondered weather the 6.5x55 could launch the 144G lapua at a reasonable velocity as that has a really god BC.
From what ive read the 6.5x55 is really under rated! That's why I put in for the slot!

Varget is not the best powder for it by far - but I had a tub! - it is certainly no slouch though. RX22 gets better reviews as do a few others.
I will be out at Sennybridge in a couple of weeks, so going to see how far out I can push it.

That looks good mate but slightly above my DIY level!
Re: Split Tikka T3 Sporter thread
I do them for a living, they are a lot cheaper than new bottom metal and magazine plus fitting tongueout
Re: Split Tikka T3 Sporter thread
Hmm I might have to get you to mod mine. I do want to change the bottom metal etc as part of a pimping up as funds allow tho.

What are you like with plastics? - Don't fancy making 10 round mags do you? (for the 6.5x55) - There is a thread on SD from a guy whop made some replacements in various acrylics - they look good, but are no larger in capacity. (Or in metal if you like?!)
I guess the magazine spring might be an issue?
Something to ponder?
Also UKGunworks make a metal replacement "bottom metal" as opposed to the Tikka's plastic to take the standard mags - something you could do?
