Re: First rifle 7.62/.308
Back a bit early, wife was going out so I needed to get back for sprog minding duties.
Bisley seemed unusually busy, Century had cars all the way along the back tucked into any spare space, and I've not seen it like that before. We were on the far side of Siberia, on McQueens (which is looking ever more ragged and in need of replacement woodwork and paint IMHO). We did start off using the next normal target along for zeroing, but it got taken over, as did the target next to it, which, to me, seem partly obscured by the McQueens target. I did manage a rough boresight, and was adjusting the scope to improve the aim, but did not finish off, still a bit high and to the left, outside the black by a couple of inches. I had a go at McQueens, guessing the offset, but only managed 10. I also had a go with the club Lee Envoy, but that seems to have developed a need for some TLC, it was fine last time I used it, but now refuses to feed from the magazine, as well as not ejecting. I had to turn it upside down to get the cartridge case out, then manually load the next round, all a bit too much time, so I had to rush the next shot. Only 24 scored, did miles better last time, 30 something.
Still I did get a chance to try my new to me gun, and the general opinion was that it had been a good purchase. I also watched one of the club members using a single shot Parker Hale TX, he had no problem feeding single rounds in, and I'd be happy to do that as long as the ejector worked properly. He reckons it is accurate to 1000 yds, but he's probably got worse eyesight than me, judging by his comments at clay shoots.

That's what it looked like today too, why so busy? Most Sunday mornings there are a lot less cars at the back of Century (although the side car park for 300 yds was shut off, and the 300 yd mob seemed to be on the other side today.

I always take a second to adjust when driving up from Short Siberia and there are people shooting on that end point. I know the angles are all worked out but it does look close when you round the corner.
Good to see the common so busy,

The oddest part of Saturday was when a bunch of ramblers came up the track from Siberia, one chap had a very large Union jack on a stick.

One wonders where they came from?
Lucky to be going home all in one bit,

Not for me, managed one dry, and one trip to Melville in the snow, although thankfully no more snow arrived while I was there, or I'd have been well and truly stuck.toffe wrapper wrote:Shugie

Just as I came round the corner in the picture, some fired something large bore right at the end of the row, and even through the van window the noise was impressive, being as I was only about 30 degrees (guess) off the line of the bullet.
Careful now/that sort of thing

I have only ever seen it that busy at competitions, maybe they are all preparing for Phoenix?
Re: First rifle 7.62/.308
There were a lot of minibuses around, several from schools (possibly cadet forces). But also a lot of general clubs, shooting mixed stuff. I drove past Stickledown, the long range firing points looked busy as well. We kept having impromptu breaks between shooting, mostly down to chatting to people on neighbouring pegs, or others interested in our kit.
