Grunig & Elmiger Rear Sights

#1 Post by Entrailies »

Hi
I have a .308 Winchester Grunig & Elmiger Target Rifle with an HPS stock.
The G&E has a angled sight rail for the rear sights and I have a Parker Hale set up at the moment. I want to replace these with some new sights - Trakker? but cannot find the right rail fitment. They are either horizontal or vertical mnot at 45 (approx) degrees.
Has anyone any suggestions, please??
Many thanks
Neil

I think Rox shoots a G&E - he should be able to help if no one else picks this up.

EDIT - Welcome to the forum as well

I'm guessing this is the round action 2-lug. Mine has Brindles sights which are fitted via a mount which essentially converts the 45 degree dovetail to a vertical (side) mount. Not sure who would have made this, but your best contact would be John Powell of Reigate, the UK agent for Grunig.

Neil.
The side mounting dovetail on the G+E is 30 degrees.

I have one original bracket here that I can photography. PM me eventually.

However, any actual rearsight would need adaptation, and the original bracket leave much to desire.

What I could recommend is to fix on top rear pf the action a piece of Weaver rail and fix a top mounting rearsight (Centra?). With this top mounting, you will not have any offset windage prroblem, your windage mechaical zero being automatically in the centre of the slide.

Centra supply side mountinf sights fro Swing/Redifield, PataliutRPA and Australian TMAC/Central.

Gruenig need a specific bracket and best would be a top mounting in this case.

Tha advert says: "side mounting Grunig & Elmiger for round system". Sounds like it comes with a mount for a round Grunig action to me.

Rox,
The advert sys 'Z.B' (Zum Beispiel = for instance) . The picture shows a classic vertical fitting, not an angled one. This is vry vague a descrition, I think, hece my post.

I would not be posiitice on such a inaccurate description,
