Is this the known thread for your gun?

I only ask as either through an email that Bob sent me or as a result of something that I have read on his web shop, I have a feeling that he has used more than one thread depending on the model and length of barrel.
I have had a feel of some full bore mods and due to the weight there is no way that I would use one in competition - a fake bit of aluminium on the other hand..

Yes, thread confirmed by Bob and also on the ticket attached to the gun, very strange size!.

Having spent the last 15mins going over the gun I'd have to say I'm a bit dissapointed in what you get for £1400, finish of the lower is not great, numerous little bits of "missing" anodising and little raised pips on the surface as if you'd painted a bit of metal with dust or salt granules on it underneath th paint layer.

Barrel is really fat, .889" after the screwcut thread rising to 1.008" for the last 1.7" before entering the barrel nut. Another annoyance is that the barrel is not the same black finish as the rest of the gun, sort of 70% as "black" which looks very odd.

Mag release at first use seems totally in the wrong place but holding the gun by the pistol grip it and using the left hand it works ok.

The trigger is extremely stiff and clunky, worst part is the fire/safe lever position, in the fire position it's vertical pointing downwards and sits right under the trigger finger knuckle (metacarpal joint?), surely it would have been better being pushed up to horizontal for fire so it's out of the way?.

God I'm in a picky mood today!.

Obviously the decision to use pistol mags, in this case Glock, meant that the mag release had to be in front of the magazine well - where the mag release would be found on a pistol, on the front of the pistol grip and not at the rear of the magazine well where traditionally a rifle would have it.

I am pleased to see that he has done away with the wire contraption that was being used on the original pictures. I am a little surprised that he has not gone with something a bigger which would benefit competition users. I suspect that you could get something made up but that is not the point when you have just laid out £1400.
Shame about the finish, personally I am happy with mine, but will agree that the finish on the barrel is easily marked - another reason to protect it.

If it's not within about 90 miles of Durham then there's very little chance of me going, driving any further is a huge problem for me. It's main use will mainly be for my son and then myself, indoors at 25m with maybe a trip to Ponteland range to see how it manages 100m once a month.

The more I examine it the more I find I'm not happy with, the T-Bar straiight pull rides on the surface below it giving a feeling like it has sand in it, I've semi-stripped it, applied CLP and the usual very light lubrication, hopefully it will wear in with use, the trigger is more of a worry as it really is far too heavy and has about 4mm of jerky creep before breaking, again something I hope will improve with use.

I just put it back in the cabinet and took out the Henry Big Boy, half the price (and that's at UK inflated prices) and fit and finish to die for.

The spring into action is the first of the Gallery Rifle action weekends held at Bisley. Clearly too far for you to travel.

I am saddened to hear that you are not happy with yours, we will all be interested to hear if you get any kind of good customer service should you decide to raise the issues,

Problem is I have nothing to compare it to so don't know if this is normal standards, I got it from Shooting Supplies, sold as brand new, certainly doesn't look as if it's been used, came in a 4 foot long box filled with about half a room full of bubble wrap, instruction book and receipt.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to try it tomorrow if I can get out, I have my housing association coming to repair a leaky sink in my downstairs bathroom yet again, the bathroom has been in a state of constant unuseableness due to bad workmanship, bodged jobs and broken promises since last May, I still can't use the loo as they can't manage to find me a support frame!. Also got carpets being fitted saturday so need to try and clear the house for that, how much help I'll get off my son is anyones guess, trying to predict reactions to situations from someone with an Autistic spectrum disorder is never an easy thing!.

Just to add to this thread, I emailed SGC and asked if they would allow me to buy one without the rail, stock, pistol grip and no paint job.


Said they can't (read: won't) :/
