Thanks for the LIFE link. Amazing Pictures. I have just watched 'Band of Brothers' again The episode about the Fighting around Bastogne truly brings home the horrors of modern warfare and those poor sods didn't even have cold weather clothing. Tough guys.

Many of them were in normal uniform and jackets and without anymore than woolen mittens if they were lucky.

Did the Bastogne march a couple of years back, in original uniform, weapons, etc.

It was COLD - I mean REAL COLD

Daytime temp was -4 to -5 - = that was BEFORE adding in wind chill, then once the sun dropped & it got dark, then it GOT COLD!!!

One of the lads took time out to film a short spoof TV commercial....IF I can find the link I will post it - 'twas a hoot!!
