And affiliate members? I guess not.
Are the records sent to us or direct to ShootCert et al? The former would not make any sense at all.

Records can only be sent to who ever completes the report on you .SevenSixTwo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 1:16 pm And affiliate members? I guess not.

"The GP receives a request to complete a Firearms recommendation report and adds the SNOMED code “has applied for firearm certificate” to the applicant’s electronic patient record (EPR).
The foundation system displays any medical conditions from the Firearms ref set that may cause concern, which the GP reviews in the round with the overall EPR. The GP then completes the Medical Information Proforma.
The doctor sends the form to the Police, who then respond to the GP following the outcome of the application. If the application is successful, GP adds SNOMED code “has firearms certificate” to patient record."
This raises several questions . Can you just tell you surgery that you want records sending to xxx ?
Do you need to give the surgery a reason for wanting your records ?
Does xxx company tell the surgery that you possess a FAC/SGC ? .
What happens at renewal time , do you need to get records sent again to company xxx .
And if the surgery has no record of you holding a fac/sgc this makes a farce of the whole thing .
I wonder if Doctors should be required to give a factual opinion on if a person is fit to be a police officer .

If you are an Associate grade member of the NSRA then yes. (NRA does not have this grade of limited membership)
If only an member of an affiliated club then no. You are not a member of either NRA nor NSRA & Affiliated club does nto pay for so buy those membership benefits.
There are members who pay for & so receive the benefits of a clubs membership, & affiliated clubs who pay & have a mix of members & non members & who have benefits of their club. But There is no such thing as 'affiliated member' of the NSRA or NRA.

Re: Online Medical
I would imagine that under GDPR rules, yes although ordinarily they might only send them direct to the individual concerned.
No. Under GDPR you can request them - in printed form - at any time and for any reason (or none). This is what I don't understand - if ShootCert (or whomever) needs eyes on your medical records that, in my case anyway, would require several reams of A4 to be printed and/or photocopied. No surgery is going allocate a clerk to do that - it would take days.Do you need to give the surgery a reason for wanting your records ?

Re: Online Medical
Maybe we should have Doctors checked out as well .
Over 400 have appeared before the Medical practitioners tribunal in the past 12 months .
Of course some of them are for minor things like charging the NHS for non existant patients or enjoying recreational stimulants .

Re: Online Medical
Funnily enough I went with my GP in the end, probably for that exact reason. For the FAC medical a while back they wanted £130, this time round £140 as above. When I emailed their admin team I basically asked if they could complete the medical form for me, but if it was going to be more then £70 could they please leave it and prepare a copy of my records instead. Guess what, it's only costing me £70! Annoyingly though it's still not done yet, so I doubt I will get anywhere with the application until next year now.SevenSixTwo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 12:40 pm My renewal FAC/SGC is due in May. I intend to apply mid/end of February but how soon (when) should I get the Medical Certification done?
My GP wants £120 + VAT so that isn't happening. Don't they realise that photocopying all my medical records is going take them way, way, WAY longer than just getting a GP to skim-read through?
Changing the subject, will they still come out and do a visit etc even though I have the FAC? I want it for clays.
Re: Online Medical
It surprises me that you can have the application done without your surgery knowing you have a SGC / FAC. I think most GP's put a flag on your file which comes up on the computer each time you visit. As you say above it would make it slightly pointless if your GP had no idea you held an FAC. Whist you are medically fit a the time an online company does the medical things could change in the next 5 years which I guess is the point of the flags.SevenSixTwo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 3:23 pmI would imagine that under GDPR rules, yes although ordinarily they might only send them direct to the individual concerned.

Re: Online Medical
My doctor asked if I worked for the police, because my file has a marker labelled police and he wanted to know what it meant. So it makes no mention of firearms or anything like that, just tells them to talk to the policeSteve12345 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 10:29 pm

Thats interesting, at my surgery it definitely comes up a “firearms certificate” on the screen because I have seen it.

Re: Online Medical
I just put in my SGC renewal, 10 day turnaround on the medical form and for a princely fee of £18. Even so, when you actually see the form, its literally 12-15 boxes to tick i still feel like i've had my eyes taken out having no relevant conditions.
