Rook Rifle - Putting it on my FAC to shoot
If I was to buy a rook rifle in an obselete calibre eg .295/.300 without the need for it go go on a FAC can I, at a later date, get it put onto my FAC so I can shoot it.
I intend firing this scenario at my FLM and BASC, however, I would welcome members advice.
Thanks,
Tony

Short answer - Yes.
Long answer - Yes, provided you can show good reason etc. just like any other firearm on your FAC.

Get a slot for it and put it on.

Yes you can do it as Dromia said. We did that with a .310 Cadet some years ago not really intending to use it then found a cheap load of brass for it so as already on the FAC reloaded for it shot great.

Almost all my rifles are in obsolete calibres. I enjoy finding and modifying brass and making or adapting dies and moulds. You simply get a slot on the FAC, write it in yourself and then write to the police to tell them that you have done so. If you want to stop shooting it, let the police know that you have no ammo left for it and then apply for a variaiton to save the slot for another calibre.

Yes as mentioned above, just get a slot. You will write it on when you are ready to shoot it (letting FLD know as with normal acquisitions) and store it as any other firearm. When/if you decide it is once again going to be an obsolete calibre wall hanger you just stop shooting it and let the FLD know - thereby potentially freeing up the slot if you wish.tonyshooter wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 10:52 pm can I, at a later date, get it put onto my FAC so I can shoot it.

Re: Rook Rifle - Putting it on my FAC to shoot
When I applied for a variation to add an obsolete calibre I put in a covering letter saying I already owned the rifle and gave all the relevant details of the gun. When my FAC came back the FLD had added the rifle to my ticket as they said I had already got it.
Had no problems taking it off ticket many years later, again a covering letter of explanation of the what and why always helps.
