Perhaps another practice day for Urban Contact should be on the cards before the 9th March?

The documentation states that we surrender the items with a completed claims form, which will be forwarded and be considered by the Home Office. It doesn't state how long before money is paid, nor detail any appeals process should they decide not to pay the amount claimed!

Does anybody know the position re upgraded parts... So for example where you buy the rifle with an upgraded forend (paying over and above the price for a standard forend). So, you've paid more but you only have one forend... and that's on the rifle?

My guess, and it is a guess, is that you'd have to put in a claim for a higher price on the rifle. Conversely, if you'd got the standard handguard on the gun when it was built (and still had it), and then bought an upgrade part later down the line, you'd put the standard one back on and then claim separately for upgrade guard.

Considering the extraordinarily generous price they're offering for the lever releases it would need to be a solid gold handguard to get any additional money for it! :o I'd love to know how they came to those figures, obviously the person 'helping' them was a LA owner and not MARS lol

I find it difficult to believe that people can sit around in the Home Office and dream up that load of cobblers and actually think they are doing something useful. I bet there will be several thousand people who have these so called offensive weapons sat in a drawer that will have no idea that they have been banned. It would be nice if an MP or senior police officer was caught in possession of one of the banned items, but I bet they would have some excuse to avoid prosecution, I think the term 'not in the public interest' would apply.
Regards
Peter.

When they first came out they were only available in 9mm and IIRC mine was £1350 (it was in the first batch that ended up being confiscated bu the police temporarily)

I bought my .223 LR in 2017. I ordered it at an arms fair at Bisley where Big Bob had a stand. The build cost came to £4,700 - he did me a deal for £4,500 - so my bill shows £4,500 (which included one metal magazine, which is going to be surrendered for £50) - so I'll get
£4,445 + £50 = £4,495. I'll take the £5 loss on a three year old rifle (with ample regret that it has come to this).

New Lithgow Woomera LA105 in 6.5 + new .223 AR-15 will replace it as soon as funds come through.
