Powder Recommendations

#1 Post by simong »

Afternoon chaps,

I've just happened on a 1873 Uberti in 45 Colt ( 24" ).
Being totally new to this calibre , I'd appreciate any guidance on a suitable powder to try please.

Thanks in advance,

Best

Although it's been many years since I've loaded .45 colt I'm a great Unique fan. It's available and no shortage of load data.

Alliant lists 230gn cast lead bullet with 8.5gns Unique as max load but do some research, think about what bullet you'll use and what are trying to achieve with it.

200 SWC 5.5gn BA10
255rnfp 10.5gn Blue Dot
255rnfp 9.0 gn BA 9
255rnfp 15.0 gn 2400

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
