I have found more recently that some shooters do not know the difference between a muzzle brake vs flash hider, they see the end of the barrel has something fitted with slots in it they think it's a break, even some staff at the Bisley range office are not sure which is which. Althugh they have started to ask if I use muzzle breaks when booking ranges.
I shoot some rifles fitted with flash hiders, over the past few years I have had other shooters walk over to ask me not to use that rifle as it's fitted with a break.
Brakes are like any other piece of shooting equipment, they are part of shooters kit and are not a problem in themselves.
Problems arise when some shooters use there kit in an inconsiderate manner, this has been discussed at length on here before.
The banning or regulating of equipment as way of dealing with inconsiderate behaviour of the odd shooter is a totally unacceptable and disproportionate way of tacking the problem which is how individuals choose to use their kit rather than the kit its self.
The inconsiderate few are not challenged about their behaviour and considerate people are punished instead, they must be following the HOs approach to firearms legislation.

I have raised this issue before with the range office, I asked why if you use an MB do you have to pay for the extra lane when flint lock / muzzle loaders don't have too and I could get covered in flint shards etc, (yes I know unlikely), to which the was well yes we can see your point.
Personally I take my mod with me, I ask the lanes either side if I can shoot with the MB when they are, or can I shoot with the MB when they aren't on the FP, if I cannot I put on the Mod, most people are fine, with exceptions (targetmaster by the sounds of it).
Try snapshooting with 3 second exposures without a mb on.i can understand moaning about mb's if your in the next lane to a 50 cal but not the run of the mill c/f rifles.ive shot inbetween 50 cals and you can't stick it very long.jeez that's a blast and a half.more of a smack in the face.i love watching them tracers zoom off into the distance clapclap.
I have 4 muzzle brakes and 3 mods
Safety glasses too.
