CSR optics

#1 Post by Sim G »

A step closer to trying CSR and have spoken with a friend with regards to the rifle. Looking at optics and wondering what others are using in this discipline? I thought about using my Leupold VXR Patrol 1.25-4, in a Burris PEPR mount which currently sits on my M&P 15-22... Good enough?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I have used that model and it was fine !

Using a Mark AR 6-18 now in practical class. A lovely under rated scope.

Leupold VXR Patrol 1.25-4 should be good for CSR Service Optic, assuming enough elevation for 600yds.

For Practical class you’d probably want more mag.

Yeah, but they just seem to look out of place to my eye!

I'm using my AR15 for general club competition and need a bit more magnification for my aged eyes, so have replaced the Primary Arms x4 prismatic scope with a heavier Leupold VX firedot 3-9, lovely and clear but a bit chunkier than looks proper.
Careful now/that sort of thing

I too would be interested in knowing a little more about CSR, considering giving it a try. Would my Steyr Aug be good enough (I would have thought that many people are using either Bradley Arms, Lantac, SGC or Valkyir Rifle).

Also, my scope is a Vortex Viper PST Gen I 2.5-10×32 FFP Illuminated in with EBR-1 reticle (MRAD).

Is a sling a good idea, due to the various shooting positions?

I use a 2.5-10x40 PST in practical optic. The low mag is OK for UCM I like bowl for short range match and 10x for further away.

With your AUG and that scope you should just have a go up at Diggle, you'll be fine.

I'll be back up at Diggle soon as my new 18" Raven arrives.

Thanks BamBam, now that I have finished my studying (for the moment), I intend to go and watch the CSR match on the 14th to see what it's all about. Do you recommend a sling?

I've got a sling, but not practiced with it. With the AUG a sling might get in the way of your charging handle?
