Great British Shooting Show

It was an OK trip for me. I dovetailed the trip there with meeting up with a dealer en-route to flog off my last 2 x de-acts, and then went onto the show. It was pretty much what I expected though, and what others have said, but I wanted to get a set of CENS leccy ear plugs cast and ordered as being freelance, even with the fuel up there and entrance, its still cheaper than taking a day off to get it done nearer home. It was also the chance to chat to and fondle the lovely slicked up underlevers on the A&A Gunsmiths stand clapclap
My Uberti '73 will now be heading off in their direction for a bit of tweekerage later in the year, so for me it was an OK trip.
Not sure I'd go again though.

It was alright, good day out really in crap weather.
Got my K22 stuff from CCA, got some RG .223 for the AR and set the world to rights with a few old friends.
Got a £2 bottle of water, so waited to hit costco on the way way back to M6, £1.50 for a hotdog and bottomless soda the antithesis of the overpriced death burgers on sale at the show.

Saw the new Bergara rifles in the flesh, really fancy the HMR in 6.5CM, hopefully the price won't chance between now and April.

Good day overall, I know everything costs, but felt that this year it was all a bit too excessive, even ignoring a 3 hour drive to get there. Can't help feeling that it's losing it's mojo.

I was undecided about going, missed last years, anyway bite the bullet(ouch) and went. I was really disappointed as it seemed to be mainly taken over by the BIG boys/manufactures and not like it used to be. Also the prices of most of the shotguns/rifles etc seem to have gone up, no bargins as such.
I was looking for a used Mossberg 500 , only found 1 and the guy wanted £330!!, and it was only a 2+1.
Didn`t see York guns there.

I am into Target/Practical shotgun and there was nothing relating to this there, not even UKPSA !!.
Think I will stick to Bisley now, by the way where is the Northern show held and when ?

Ive been to many of the shows and the only difference between Stonleigh and the Northern is that the Northern is outside...

Laying here under a blazing light with no heating I've realised that I have had a great two days, I've talked to people that have more knowledge than I'll ever have and some that I've been able to help and pass on some of what i know. To my mind the show is missing out on having the antique, military, historical side of the shooting world, so if you feel your style of shooting is not being represented, please, send a polite email to the organisers stressing this point, if you don't ask you don't get!

Tactree had decent prices on their gear. Oh and another bonus. Eventually have seen the lodock gear lever release. Turns out it isn't a figment of their imagination

I picked it up and had a play, feels like a well sorted FAL, bolt release was easy enough to manipulate. Accuracy wise inch and a bit at 100 yards...

SGC had a new lever release .308, balances a bit better than the Lodock, probably both going to be around the same price.

Went to every Newark Show as from Newcastle Upon Tyne it was an okay trip to do in a day and always really enjoyed those shows. Hadn't been to Stoneleigh since the first one but my friend was keen to go and my sister lives at Nuneaton so stayed with her Friday night which was good. Got in to the show ground without problem (apparently there was an accident on the motorway which delayed a lot of people). Did not seem a lot of visitors which is good in a way as wasn't too crammed. Awful lot of clothes retailers and not shooting relating stuff. My friend was looking for a nice knife and a BSA Lightning air rifle and found neither. I was interested in looking at a GSG MP40 - none to be seen or any other .22 semi autos. Did see a nice Miroku .22 lever action I would have bought had I not already bought the Marlin. Love the Winchester collection, always spend time ogling the collection and talking to the guy. Lot of shotguns and .22 rifles. Expensive food. We both said we probably enjoyed the Northern show last year more.

Good day out but will not be returning.
