Little Winny

#1 Post by Dougan »

This is my father's 'plinker' : Winchester Model 57 (1926) .22 LR.

It's a lovely little rifle - would be perfect for the 'Mini Methuen' comp, on Dave 101's thred. The only problem is the non-adjustable rear sight - There is supposed to be a Lyman reciever sight for it in existance (i think the mount is already on the rifle - see photo)...but I can't find one. Neither my father or myself want to put modern sights on it...any ideas?

Also I'd like to repair where it's been drilled for a scope - any advice on proceedure and materials used, would be much appreciated :)

I believe the "not English made" is a stamp that was applied at the Brit proof houses. I have a 1906 manufactured Marlin .22 that also has these stamps.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Cheers Dave :good: - I'll contact this guy for more info. It looks like there is already some sort of mount on the rifle already (just with the sight bit missing)...if I can't find the right piece, then I could just replace the whole thing with one like the picture...
