Today is the first day of the Battle of the Somme

#1 Post by Watcher »

95 years ago today our forefathers fixed their bayonets and went over the top; full of hope and confidence. For many it was the end of their lives or the beginning of a life scarred mentally or physically. We can pause today to remember their sacrifice and courage.

Rest in Peace to all. A very poignant day in History. My Grandad was killed fighting in Palestine in 1917. He fought at Gallipoli previously.
