Shotgun fitting

Anyone got an idea on the ball park figure for fitting a shotgun. Likewise, anyone have a recommendation for someone in Kent to do the work?

You'll probably get family discount.

We do it free, we kinda feel it's more a need than extra. You can't or rather shouldn't buy a shotgun without having it fitted anyway (youd not buy another item without it fitting) so we do them free whether you buy a gun or not from us. But we're greater Manchester based so no good for yourself.

A "try" shotgun - akin to an old wooden adjustable tailors dummy
It allows all sorts of adjustments to the length, cast, drop, etc.
This information is then used to make up a new bespoke handmade butt for the chosen gun...

When I was at Browning, some of the better guns were fitted in Belgium & involved at least two visits to the factory by the client before the work was seen as good enough.

....at the top end of fitting services. For most gun shops its simply someone who knows what they're doing eyeballing the gun as you mount it to make sure its not too long or short and your eye is in the right place on the rib. Either way, its nothing to be intimidated by.

I had my Miroku 6000 fitted many years ago, it was always a reasonable however I felt it was a bit short for me so I headed over to see Keith Wilcox who checked things over, extended the butt and dropped the heel all for GBP90.00 which was a bargain in my eyes and it made a significant difference to my shooting as well. Keith was a lovely chap and I will always have fond memories of our chats in his workshop.

So is it worth getting it done even on a cheap number that I'll be getting to start off with the clays? Possibly get into skeet with it but for now it'll just be sporting.

FYI it'll be a miroku single trigger ejector in 12g

I am quite a fan of Miroku. My first new shotgun was a Miroku 6000 back in the early 90's and it is still going well and I certainly have no plans to replace it.

The owner of the place I shoot clays at is selling me it as I had asked him if he knew anyone selling anything to get me started and he said 'I can sell you something' giving me it for no more than 100 he said so I'm very chuffed to be getting it, and my mates going to hold it on his ticket for me until mines comes through. Great friends.
