Ruger Old Army S/H prices!!!!

#1 Post by Sim G »

Like most ex-pistol shooters, I got a B/P revolver just after we lost "proper handguns" and owned it for several years. I went off the boil with shooting it, so sold it on.

Anyhoo, a couple of years after that, I got back into B/P revolver and picked up several models. So, I have the hankering for another Ruger Old Army........

HAVE YOU SEEN THE BLOODY PRICE OF THEM!!!!!! :o :o

One dealer had a stainless, target sights in stock. Pretty good nick as well........ 600 quid!!!!

I couldn't help myself, "More than they cost new?! "Ah, but they don't make them anymore" he says, "...going to be very collectible....."

"Eh? They only stopped making them because you can't wear them out and Ruger made three and a half million of them!"

"Yes, but it's worth what someone will pay for it." he chirped triumphantly!

"Put it back in your cabinet mate, I'll not pay that because it's not worth it........."

Oh well, the search continues.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Sim G, I have a member of our club selling three. Two have already gone including one for me but I am sure he has one left. It's a stainless steel model with the longer barrel and target sights. He was looking for £400 which is about the going rate at present.

Let me know if you want me to make enquiries.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Cheers Mike! However, after bleating to a mate, he reckons Alan Westlake has some of his Taurus .38 muzzle loading conversions secondhand. Likewise, I've been told a dealer at the other end of the country has some blue, target sight ROA in stock, new for 475!
