Naffed off

#1 Post by Dahonis »

Mosin action (bolt removed) safe and sound in the vice ready to complete work on the foresight...or so I thought.

After trotting off to the loo, I hear a metallic noise...mmmm, my children had decided to swing on a pole they pushed onto the muzzle.

I now have a bent barrel, and two children up for adoption....apart from scrap it which I really really do not want to do , any ideas please ?

Regards

I am impressed, MN barrels are tough old things to remove or bend. Why not stick a nice new barrel on and whilst you are at it go for a nice tight CIP chambering, true the bolt face and see how it really shoots.

Or take it out and shoot it with the bent barrel, you'll probably find the accuracy has improved  Seriously though for what they cost is a new barrel worth it? Saying that I'm a fine one to talk, I put a new Lothar Walther barrel on a shot out 6.5 Swede and it's now a joy to shoot. The money I put into it I could have bought another complete 6.5 Swede.

I was impressed the barrel bent, its only slightly, but its visable.

Was thinking about a new barrel, I know it will cost an arm and a leg. I somehow feel that might be the way to go....its survived since 1928 only to be broken...ffs.

Any idea of what make of barrel, its a bit of a minefield to a novice...... helpsign
