Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.

If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

#1 Post by barney57 »

Whilst I know and we all know that we all Shoot in one way or another,,,,I thought I would ask if there are any keen Fishermen on here aswell as shooters?

Those who might do abit of Course or sea fishing as well,,,,and if so do you think it would be a nice thing (if possible) to have a page on here to swap fishing tales and tips etc...
I do abit of fishing,, recently getting back into it,,,coarse fishing that is,,,and some sea fishing now and again,,but now mainly Carp fishing,,,and thinking about having a go at some Pike!!
How about it Guy's
And
How about it Chrystel??

Oh God, another maggot drowner. Seriously though, a good point. Why not a general fishing page for all forms of fishing, then we can all chip in. I was a feather drowner, (fly fishing).

Bnz was an avid fisherman. Deep sea cod, pike, carp, anything really. I used to go with him, bit of boat fishing on holidays. Had some fun. We have loads of gear sitting idle, life has got in the way of using it. :(

A couple of successes!

A rather large Cock

and it was damn tiring holding it up for the picture!

Two more cocks ... the slab they are on is 1m wide, making te lower one about 98 cm and the upper about 90 cm

A fishing section gets my vote. I really enjoy course fishing although I don't get out much due to all the time I spend shooting or on related activities. I've been fly fishing a couple of times too but my casting is pants.

I'll try and attach a picture and see how that works out. It's my best fish of last year. It may not look that big but it really does go a little over 12lb. It was a bit of a fattie but then who am I to cast aspersions. I took me about half an hour to land it. I was fishing in the margins on 3lb line looking for roach when it bit!
