If you're waiting for a renewal & or grant with Police Scotland, don't hold your breath.
Their latest ploy is reorganising all the RFDs in Scotland. They are all getting re-numbered, so the licensing offices will have to re-issue all the RFD certificates in Scotland............ Jeez, they can hardly handle the workload they had last week, never mind this.
What about the costs to the established RFDs; letterheads etc. all will have to be changed to the new number! Do Police Scotland care???
I've had a new FAC number, not had the new SGC number yet.
This ONLY came to my notice on my last one-for-one.
Got the FAC & noticed that the original number was printed elsewhere than in the Cert. No. box.
They confirmed by e-mail that ALL numbers have been changed to reflect a national Scottish database.
I'd be surprised if they decided to recall EVERY certificate on issue in Scotland; more a case of my experience - as you update/change paperwork the new documents issued will be the updated ones
I've noticed a shift in recent years in people being complete jobsworths (not firearms related) , and levels of middle management changing things in order to look busy - it's a shame it's come to this. I hoped police Scotland would be better.

Yes, that seems to be the case with the FAC's & SGC's (New numbers at renewal/variation) but the RFD's have all been given new numbers and are now just waiting for their new certificates to arrive.

Well I think this is the telling point in all of this! It is well known that the SNP want full control of firearms licensing, introducing a national Scottish database of FAC/SGC holders and the guns they own in parallel to the National database goes some way to lay the groundwork to take full control of licensing.
Does this mean the SNP has abandoned the National Firearms Licensing Management System in favour of a (presumably very expensive) homegrown database that doesn't talk to the rest of the UK?
