Cast aside what you know about Soviet stocks. The Poles use the tin escutcheon liner and bare wood rear slot. They only used the full pressed in liner towards the end of production. The barrel and receiver are typical wartime Soviet however the bluing looks odd. I could of course be completely wrong.

Forgot to say that Polish production did not start until the 1950s.

As an NRA member could I snap it up and have it transferred to them to hold it until my variation comes through?

I'm guessing you could give the guy a holder's fee until your variation comes through, or speak to your local RFD and ask whether he'd keep it and store it for you until it comes through

Looks like I'll be filling out the variation form tonight then. Chap said he could deliver to Bisley on the 18th and I'm next down there on the 1st of June. I love it when a plan comes together. FEO said that the variation could be turned around in a couple or three days too.
My first wooden gun! :)

You will not have any worries Steve (MFL) is a great dealer and never sells anything he would not own himself, I have bought several rifles from him in the past.

That is one nice looking M44 wood and metal work looks fantastic, :good: enjoy.

Does anywhere sell Sellier & Bellot 7.62x54r 174gr HPBT match ammo in the UK? Also, does anywhere on the Bisley site sell any form of 54r?
