You just have to expand each comment, a pain but that's how it works!

What I wanted Gaz to ask when "Matt the special" got all blustery was: "If section 58(2) is such a problem as you suggest how many people have you arrested carrying them?". Also "If not you how many of your fellow constables have arrested somebody carrying such a gun"? Finally "What are your statistics to support your claim that there is a problem"?

As far as I can make out NABIS and formally ACPO have not made one presentation of statistics showing how many people have been arrested carrying a section 58(2) pistol? How many people have been let go because it is an apparent loop hole? They need to present some figures beyond the line "This is an increasing problem"!

On twitter you are limited to a set number of characters per post, hence each comments shortness

wtfwtf

What idiot came up with that? How can you have a meaningful discussion when you can only write two lines?

Why do people bother with such a restricting medium it can't have many members.

Lol :-) Are you doing this on purpose Adam? Twitter isn't there for meaningful discussion, it's for attention whores to have their entire lives validated by posting every inane thought that pops into their heads.
It has over half a billion users...!

I don't read my own signature!

Well, quite - you can't. It's pretty flawed as communications methods go. Slightly worse than Facebook, really.
Fedaykin wrote:Oh and I read through your debate with "Matt the special constable" on Twitter Gaz! Fascinating and depressing in equal measures!
Glad you liked it - was trying to juggle debating with him and finishing off the day's workload. Probably not at my best there!

Frankly anybody who makes a big thing out of being a Police special constable in a public forum is a raging Walt already!

I was almost crying with laughter when he rolled out this tired old gem:
Matt the special: Ahh the voice of someone who hasn't done a days policing ever. Easier said then done how do you suggest these guns are found?
Well I would be interested to know how many days policing he has done and how many East London gang members he has arrested packing an 1856 LeMat revolver...

You did well Gaz, he came over as ignorant of the facts and rather up tight when his position of knowledge was challenged.

But Gaz what other communication method allows me to ask Katherine Jenkins to marry me where she might actually see it?
oh and also tell Piers Morgan he is an oxygen thief...
but seriously I have to agree with you about it for serious conversation, not great by any stretch...

Well the reporter has replied and is clearly happy to take NABIS at face value without proper fact checking!

My gut feeling is NABIS has spun some stories probably about deactivated pistols to try and associate it with Section 58(2), this is a clear attempt at stitching up the world of historic pistols which is very niche. Frankly seething!

Here are his replies and along with mine and Gaz's:
