Pistols: would you give up home storage to get them back?

24" and less, a place to discuss all things handgun related, section 7.3. Long barrelled revolvers, long barrelled pistols and section 5. Overseas contributions are more than welcome.

Would you have pistols back if you could only store them at your club?

No. If I can show good reason to own a rifle and am trusted to do so by the authorities then I should also be trusted to possess a pistol if I can show similar good reason.

We are unlikely ever to get pistols back, I cannot foresee any Government having the courage to repeal the Act that took them away.

In England I store my rifles at the club so I'd have no probs to do the same in order to be able to shoot pistols.

Never had a pistol but would love to be able to use one ......NOWAY would I ever be happy to centrally store....sets too much of a precedent...if I am trusted with my 338 Lap Mag and other rifles & shotguns then how in hell am I any less safe with a pistol?

Nope. Pointless owning them if remote storage is enforced.

Also no, i just don't see the logic in pistols being treated as more dangerous than a shotgun which is far more devastating at close (pistol emrolleyes ) range, or a rifle that is far more dangerous at close and long distance.

The 'handguns are easily concealed/hidden' argument holds no sway with me, a rifle or shotgun could easily be carried under a full length coat by anyone that isn't a dwarf, or in a bag/box etc etc to the place where it is to be used.

And as DaveT said, it could set a precedent that could see all guns held in central armouries :bad:

No.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Oi ...
you fat smart-pants rodent...
maybe ... but when the Gvt try to get our guns, we don't roll over for a tummy tickle but stand stand the ground. Moral of the story, I still have two 9x19, a 22 and a 44 in my safe :55:

"Give as little as possible, grab as much as you can" would be my personal view. So, before even thinking of keeping them "a la maison", let's start by trying to be allowed to use them. One thing at a time ...
