Scotarms auction (or Scrap arms according to Dromia)

#1 Post by dodgyrog »

I went to the auction and parted with some dosh today.
Lots of ammo and bullets for sale from a dealer who had ceased trading (not voluntarily by all accounts) so I came home with a heavy load in the boot.
Best of all is that I now own a Schmidt Rubin G11 - long barreled rifle just right for my cast boolits. It was the right price and I couldn't resist!
Currently cleaning the barrel - Forrest Foam overnight and CP2 (or whatever it's called) tomorrow.
Lots of Hornady bullets to sort out now as well.
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.
All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.

Well done with the Schmidt Rubin G11 :good:

....please make sure you do not have any Forest Foam left in the barrel if you decide to use C2R. DO NOT MIX CLEANERS.
...........and what are you using Forest Foam for anyway  :squirrel:

Thank you for the comments - it's my last can of Forest Foam and using it up.
I'll put a wet patch through the rifle to wash it out.
Can't wait to use on on the range.
BTW it's not just dealers - if you have the slot on your FAC you can buy the gun.

Cleaned out the foam after soaking overnight - pretty clean really as not much blue came out (no copper fouling).
Wet patches then dry now C3PO is doing his job.
Nearly ready to rock and roll
Who's got some brass to give me??? 7,5 x 55

Schmidt Rubin from a dealer who ceased to be involuntarily? Bracknell chap perhaps?

The rifle doesn 't seem to have been fired hardly at all - good news eh - even better for shooting lead boolits. Next to no copper fouling in it. C3PO works well - well trained little droid!

No pictures, no gun.....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
