They are very good pieces of kit....Cant fault the design and the function .....
Enjoy the firearm mate! They also make a model in 12ga = awesome shotgun! :good:

Personally, I just dont like the Ak47 and clones cos they been used against me and cost me friends...
I know it illogical and emotional - but that is just the way it is!

I thinks its the SOUND that tags me. I have found the distinctive sound of the AK47 going off and its typical cyclic rate just put me on edge!
I dont go mental - I just to to "ultra awareness mode" and I cant change that :bad:  and whatever causes that be it PTSD, memories, Pavloving conditioning, or old survival instincts kicking in I dont know. That is just me!

Now give me a FN or R4 or R5 and I am ubber happy!!!
The SOUNDS they make are different - the FN being 308 or the R4/5 being more cracky since its a .223.
Then the training kicks in and its my response / defence memory!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R4_assault_rifle
Standard issue rifle of the South African National Defence Force. The compact R5 carbine is popular among police and special response units.
"The R4 is a selective fire, gas-operated weapon that fires from a closed bolt. As with the Galil parent weapon, the operating system is derived from that of the AK-47. It uses ignited powder gases channeled through a vent in the barrel to drive a long stroke piston located above the barrel in a gas cylinder to provide power to the operating system. The weapon features a self-regulating gas system and a rotary bolt breech locking mechanism (equipped with two locking lugs), which is rotated by a helical camming groove machined into the bolt carrier that engages a control pin on the bolt. Extraction is carried out by means of a spring-loaded extractor contained in the bolt and a protrusion on the left guide rail inside the receiver acts as the fixed ejector".

So ironically it is based on the GALIL which is based on the AK47. kukkuk kukkuk kukkuk kukkuk kukkuk
Go figure ...like I said doesn't make sense!

duh - troutslapping - just realised Sound = Music :o

if you consider what emotional responses a piece of music can evoke based on memories or associations then I can better understand the AK47 sound linked to mine.

for example ... the theme from "The World at War" still gives me absolute hibbie jibbies!

Similar to a sense of smell evoking a response etc

I've also got an AK in 7.62x39 and I understand the emotions that its distinctive report may evoke. But it is damned good fun and will eat pretty much any ammo you choose to feed it.

As for sounds & smells, I'm sure we've all got some of those that take us back to a certain time/place, I know I do and I wouldn't change most of them

.... not sure you do, they are a little ammo fussy, sold mine for this reason. Try one of the L1A1 these are much better. PM charlotte the flyer, she has one. Very nice and silky smooth with GGG

I have shot a few neutered AK's, not a very accurate platform, but good fun! I think a trip to Czech in the new year is in order to drink nice beer and shoot real ones is in order!
