CZ 527 varmint laminate in .223

#1 Post by MartinS »

Hi all

I'm looking for a .223 to shoot from 300yards to max 600yards!

Got about £700 to spend and been looking at the CZ 527 laminate and the Kevlar version. They have 1 in 9 twist so should be ok but just wanted to know if they're suitable at those distances and are any good.

Cheers

Absolutely!

Mine is a Varmint Kevlar version and it's very accurate with the 68gr BTHP Hornady match bullet (#2278). If you can find one at that price I'd bite their fingers off!

The Hornady 75 bhtp is a good bet also.

It's on my bucket list. A friend has the laminated version. Outstanding little gun.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Does look quite tasty!

New at Sportsmanguncentre I think it's £748 for the .223

Haven't seen a secondhand one yet but there's a couple of Kevlar ones knocking around. I really do like it in laminate though. I don't need a scope as I've got one gathering dust upstairs so just a cheap Harris bipod and some rings and I'm away! I even might have some rings to fit it as well.

770 would be cheap. I think my mate paid closer to 9 six months ago, or so. I remember thinking thsat was a shed load for a CZ.....

Great performer though. It has a "223 action" and I can't see the .223 being cheaper as the laminate is only available in .222 and .223. The walnut was available also in .17 Rem and .204 Ruger, but whether the choice is across the range, I can't say.

There's a couple of S/H on GT, laminate and kevlar for 700 quid, so the Sportsmans are offering a great price. It may be worth not dilly-dallying neither. Sportsmans tend to price with their available stock. If they've got it, they want to knock them out quick. Once they're gone at that price, they're gone. New stock may very well be different.......

The Gunmart on my bench, which is the May edition (out in Apil, probably) they have the 527 Varmint, screwcut, at £1033.....

Right O. It's a good deal!

Need to get down there to have a look me thinks!

Over a £1000 was a lot which is making me more and more interested in it at this price! I'll keep yer posted! Yer right as well not to bother with a secondhand one!
