Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.
If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

Gulp.. Just sat my DSC Level 1 this past Monday. Now just the wait for Mr Postie to deliver my pass or fail. Either way was a great experience and is only the first step on my journey.

I sat it at the Rural Skills Centre just outside Cierencester. It was run by Paul Hill.MiLisCer wrote:Where and whom did you sit it with Ray?

The shooting and Safety test were ok was nervous but still ok. The deer recognition test was good too. The two written (well multiple choice) papers are the parts that I am the least sure of but then we all second guess etc. Took the attitude read the question twice and go with the answer I thought was right. Didn't try and be clever just relied on what I had learned.MiLisCer wrote:Good luck with the result, I am sure you will be fine.

So now I am in a waiting pattern while Wiltshire Contsabulary process my FAC,. Gun safe is in place (Checked the location with my local FEO first), House alarm replaced with a better one (that actually works as the old one had expired on us).
Am hoping Wiltshire are good on their estimate of 6 - 8 weeks to process the FAC. Currently crossing fingers, toes, eyes etc
