Under leaver action!

Hi all

I've asked for .357 slot on my ticket. Whether I get it who knows but I've been having a look about. Fancy a bit of quick shooting and it's a bit different. :good:

Looking at the Winchester and the Marlin and really like the look of the Marlin SBL!

What's yer views on both rifles on reliability?

Thanks

I like my Winchester in 357. :good:

From a negative point of view it chews up the rim of the brass which contributes/causes double feeds and extraction problems - I thinking of just using factory ammo from now on. Also, the magazine spring is a bit heavy, but easily solved by cutting 3 to 4 coils off.

On the plus side the action is very smooth and it's a very accurate rifle - you just need to be patient and prepared to experiment to get the best from it.

...the ONLY "leaver" action I'd suggest is the SGC 9mm = as in, LEAVE it well alone

For a traditional lever action - I went with a .45 Winchester Trapper. Brilliant little gun, lots of tuning & slicking tips for them on the web & they don't have the feed issue that the original Marlins had, nor the poor build quality that the newer ones have since the factory was relocated (...but NOT the experienced workforce!!...)

I would add to what Sandgroper sends you is, the SBL is .45-70 with an 18 inch barrel...... you won't shoot it that quick!!

The "fastest" lever gun on the market, with practice would have to be the Uberti's in either 1866 or 1873 configuration. Have a little look on youtube for some of the coboy action shooters at the top of the sport..... Some of them are achieving almost a full auto rate of fire! And boy, do those Uberti's look nice.

But, if you decide on a Marlin, give them a wide birth until Remington sorts out the manufacturing issues!!

I've got a Uberti/Navy Arms Yellowboy in at present and it is indeed very slick.

Dromia's Yellow Boy is indeed very slick and feels solid.

My Pre Remington Marlin is faultless now the lifter has been fettled.
