Waiting for flo to contact me.

Hi all just joined , my name is pete and I have a question .
I'm waiting for the flo to contact me for my interview , now I have applied for 22lr and 17hmr on my application , I have been given permission to shoot vermin on 500 acre land locally to me , but my question is this , I have fired 22 rimfire a few times when I was in the army , it was a sa80 rifle converted to fire 22 lr in a indoor range , I haven't fired 17hmr before but I am well aware of the difference between the 2 and the 22lr is for rabbits upto 80 yards and the 17hmr for quarry upto 150-160 yards , including corrids when decoyed to the ground. Will the 17hmr on my application be scrapped because I haven't fired hmr ? , I have served in the paras for 7 years and fired calibers from 5.56 to 50 cal in my time served , any help would be grateful.
Peter

Hi Peter and welcome.
Others will be along to give better advice but I have to say, that when I applied for my FAC, having not fired 357mag, 45BP revolver didn't preclude me from getting them albeit they are for target use. I was never asked if I'd any experience of them.

I think you will be ok
I'd be very surprised if ANYONE had an application turned down on the basis that they'd not fired a gun of a certain caliber
Where are you located?
...sounds like you need an ex-Rockape to come over & suprevise ya bigteeth

Thanks guys , I have been reading many forum posts and I was assuming you needed some time firing calibers for what your applying for , I'm from Essex by the way.

Welcome to the forum Peter, I am fairly sure the FLO will base the grant on the land as much as your experience and they seem to prefer the HMR around here as they break up so easily.

Can't see it being a problem. Just make sure you know some basic ballistic info about the two calibres (rate of drop, tendency to ricochet etc) and you should be fine. The fact that you have training in the safe use of firearms will stand you in good stead. Just remember, safe backstop and don't shoot unless you know where the shot is going if you were to miss your target or your projectile passes through (huge possibility, if not certain, with things like a .22lr on a head shot rabbit at 50-60 yards).
You'll be fine...I'm sure.

I am sure you will be OK
I am just wondering if I should expect 1,2 or 3 visits from my FEO in the near future with renewals and so on plus Christel needs to renew her FAC later this year. I can see some interesting conversations coming up..
