I know now that the Phoenix is a major competition at that there Bisley place, and that there is, apart from the shooting, some sort of marquee with people selling shooting stuff. Is it worth making a visit there on Friday 1st to spend yet more money, or is that more of a weekend thing? Can't make the weekend as I'm meant to be taking my son sailing.

In a word YES it is worth a visit even on the Friday.

The Phoenix is always worth a visit, the trade stands are a good way of emptying your wallet and bank account and also allow you get a feeling for the current market in older service rifles plus pick up the odd reloading part or some milsurp plus put faces to names. It is one of the places where a Full-Bore Hoody pays dividends.

Also if you get the chance walk out and watch some of the competitions, contrary to popular belief shooting competitions can be a lot of fun for spectators.

Phoenix to me is to meet up with people I normally have not seen since last Phoenix, it is to me one of the events during the year not to be missed. Newark has become another one.

Any day is good to go although I am leaning towards Saturday being the best day. One can spend a fortune there if not careful. It is one of the situations where I really am in favour of not having all the slots in the world on my FAC ;)

Stock blanks (guy near the pavilion sells some awesome ones) Go and say hi to Dromia. Brian Fox should be there in the corner inside. MidwayUK Gavin should be there with all the pretty girls. Wayne from North Western Custom Parts with his lovely golden labrador. The list goes on, you will soon get to know people, small fair same very nice people every year.

Dromia and I have a stand in the Pavilion on Friday to Sunday - feel free to come and chat - bring tea with you - mine is weak with no sugar and Dromia has his strong with no sugar.
We look forward to meeting you and any other FB'ers

Tea! Tea?

Canada House sell pints of tea, one or two of which I shall be imbibing over the week-end.

I can't remember if we discussed this but, are we having a Phoenix Fullbore Function?

Also look out for three scruffy buggers with either DRPC navy blue polo shirts, name on the back of two of them or DRPC hoodies.
Where are we meeting up then?

Thanks for the info, I shall head over on Friday, possibly with my FAC at risk. How will I know who Dromia is though?

Canada House is an amazing place, we had our club AGM there last year, and although it looks fairly mundane on the outside, it is really splendid inside.

How to describe Dromia. Well... He may have had his twice yearly trim and he may not, so he may have a lot of beard or not, oh and he has some sort of foreign dialect.

Someone help me out here please.

I'm usually in the main hall in the Pavilion with my tables half way down the lefthand side against the wall.
