Surely you don't need to replace the trigger on your 590, wouldn't simply adjusting it be adequate. They tend to have very good triggers that are easily adjusted. I have a 595 which is basically the same as the 590 and everyone that uses it comments on how good the trigger is.

Iv'e already adjusted the trigger down and fitted a light spring but i happen to like a very light trigger, i shoot free recoil style and a very light trigger will help the rifle ride the bags better [ f class shooting]

I should talk to Jackson Rifles. He'll know for sure. You might try the importers but don't hold any hope will you?

I think there may be more aftermarket bits available for the current T3 range than all of the previous, and I'll say this just once, proper Tikka rifles. I've never been aware of much aftermarket stuff for the 55/65, 590/595/690/695 ranges and given the age of the 590 action now you might just be chasing rocking horse teeth.

Very nice indeed to hear of a Tikka in F Class - care to tell us more please?

The rifle really came about when i started to get shoulder problems, even the humble 308win was giving me hell, it started off as a l/h 308win heavy barrel conti [ i think they were called] that was put together for me by the then importers jls [ i think] anyway, i had a new barrel put on it by pete walker in 6mm dasher and when it came back i thought, i'll make a stock for it and go the whole hog and build it strictly as a bag gun, then promptly wandered down the workshop, about 3 months and £30.00 worth of alloy later i had a rifle, after a bit of load testing i have ended up with a rifle that spits out 105g lapua bullets at 3000 fps and shoots 5 shot groups in the high 1s [ when the wind is kind] at 100yds and holds about .25 min out to 600yds [ when the wind is kind]. In 2 weeks time i'm giving the rifle a chance to stretch it's legs at 900/1000 and also giving my new front rest it's first airing [ this winters project] all 26lb of it. I will take some pics and upload them if anybody wants to have a look. [ be warned i am not an engineer, just a bloke with imagination and some pointy tools etc]

John Scoltock (if I'm right on the spelling): that's a long time ago. Back in the day before Beretta bought Tikka/Sako and long before GMK got their hands on the brands.

Okay, Tikka time: I have an M55 Supersporter in 6mm BR, pacnor rebarelled from .22/250, there's s long action M65 action in 308 which has a long fluted Tikka barrel (not quite sure of the provenance but the muzzle is turned down to accept those funny target rifle sights) and still shoots well at 600, also an M65A skeletally stocked 308 which has a flat based action and a nylon sleeved boltway. Oh plus the M590 .243 stalking rifle. Shall I crowd your thread with photos?

Right I've shown you mine...

I would reverse the images for you but then they'll be pointing the wrong way :0037:

I think a US gunsmith, Mac Tilton, has modified the Barnard trigger to fit the Tikka 595 action - would that also fit the 590?

Take a look at: http://www.mtguns.com/repl__trigger.htm
