Not enough weekends in the year?

Like several others on the Forum I have read of competitions / disciplines which are being ran in some far off place and fancy having a go.
Tactical .22lr,
.22LR F Class
3 Gun matches
Tactical Rifle &
Sniper comps are some that spring to mind.
There are many others like me who would like to try a wider variety of competitions but there is a lack of new events taking place. I wonder why this is?
Is it simply just a case of someone needs to step up and arrange it, or do people try to organise events only to have poor attendance and end up making a loss?
Are ranges too difficult to book or the rules get in the way of what is planned? Could one organisation perhaps be putting it self forward and leading the way?
Perhaps everyone wants to compete and no one wants to help run the events?
I imagine that it is a combination of several of the things that I have mentioned and several more - perhaps people just don't have the time or the money at the moment.
I believe that it is in the Firearms industries own interests to be promoting competitions and I am a little surprised that we do not see more of the big names taking a lead. I must say that I have seen more from the small RFD's and custom guys in the UK than the big manufacturers.
Anyone got any ideas on how we can get some more comps going?
