Now that's one fox I wouldn't complain about being shot :shock:
As for 'cat v fox' - if the cat's healthy...then the cat, every time...

Mrs tells me she saw her cat 'taken' by a fox down the farm years ago.
And she still will not kill the beggars!

We had a big tabby for many years here in the boonies and he never had problems with the fox's or dogs come to think of it. A hungry/cornered fox could well be a very different issue.

Cats themselves can be quite vicous - though I still love them
I posted a picture of my cat weeks ago - she looks sooo sweet...but she once took a dislike to my brother-in-law...he sat in her seat, so she ran right across the room, ran up him, and launched a full attack - he was actually quite shocked (I didn't think I was ever going to stop laughing :lol: )
