Warcop Range

Club have booked on C10 Charlie High Range at Warcop. Entry to the range off A66 at RV1 signpost.
Has anyone been on that range. The information I have to date is not very encouraging. Would appear there is an area of concrete from which you can shoot prone at any staic object you can see in front of you. No targets, nothing else.
Any further information would be welcome.
Thanks
Yamavira

A load of hard targets at distances of up to 1000 and possibly beyond.
I haven't shot there for many years but there were a bunch of hard targets you could ping bullets off, dead tanks and the like.

Great fun for the first half hour then the novelty wears off and the boredom sets in.

That's the impression I have been given.
Did a recce run over the A66. Bit of a wing & a prayer coming off, & getting back onto the A66, at the RV1 junction.

First place I ever saw the Challenger tank live fire… could have watched that and it’s co-axial machine gun all day! Supposedly armoured GPMG link was one ball, one tracer! It was like Star Wars! Happy days.

Hi Alan :)
I looked into booking it for my club and got much the same info so didn't bother.

Went across to Warcop last saturday.. Speed camera on the moor going over.
Traffic was light so no major problem turning right off A66 to go up to 10C. Lovely day so able to enjoy the fantastic vista from the range over the valley & the mountains beyond.
The 4 tanks at 900 plus. A few areas of brown earth & that was about the only targetry to be seen. Seeing some earth kicked up by your rifle bullet strike paled after half an hour. Even the 0.338s were not having that much fun. Enjoyed the experience but doubt I would want to return to that particular range. Very exposed should the weather be windy or wet.
Getting back out onto the A66 quite dodgy. Bit of a blind corner & lorries moving at speed.
