Well I was going to send you a link to the Durham FLDF page as the forms have been fillable on there for quite some time but on opening the current ones they're now not fillable

Presumably depends on your local force. Some Dorset forms are.

Same as Thames Valley.
Bit of a faff, but I had filled an old fillable one out previously, and had it printed out to be able to double check each entry 3 times before going onto the next section....
No doubt all part of the 'grand plan' to pi$$ of shooters to encourage them to give up.

If the forms are editable pdfs then you cannot simply save the form you are working on as they are write protected. Instead you use "save as " and call it a different name, do this every time you work on the form: so save as form1.pdf, then form2.pdf, form3.pdf, etc.

You can use the insert text function in Adobe pdf reader. This allows you to place the cursor where you want the text, double click and a text box appears to type in. You can also move the text box if the alignment is off.
You then use save as and give the file a new name to save it. I did this for my application to Durham and for firearms transfers without any issues.
