I am after a laser bore sight for my 2 x .243 Win cal rifles, to facilitate a zero check.

I need a laser that will be visible on a target 100m away in daylight.

Can anyone help with a recommendation, please may I ask.

Thanks,

Tony

Hi Tony - I think you will need a green laser to be visible at 100 yds in daylight and still remain legal. Personally I've never been very impressed with laser bore sights, always find it easier and more straight forward to remove the bolt and and bore sight in the usual manner. If you're not sure you'll be on the target with your first shot, just start nearer.

The Mk1 eyeball is far superior than any laser gegaw when it comes to bore sighting.

Same here...... although of all the methods that I have tried with my 243 ,using my telescope (very fiddly to set up the focal points) through the barrel was only a few centimetres out at 100 yds, which is just a bit more accurate than the eyeball..... laser came out least accurate by miles.

AFAIK there are no legal limits for lasers/laser power in the UK. There is 'guidance' that certain laser classes aren't sold but nothing that would make buying/possessing one illegal.

Agree- Not illegal to own but a lot of "guidance" once above class 2 (>1mw) and a host of offences concerning wrongful use. I don't think a class 2 laser would be visible at 100 yds in daylight. I have a green Class 3, 5mw pointer that is 100yd/daylight visible.

I used a Sightmark laser boresight at 25 yards to set up a new scope recently on my .308.
When I went to actually zero at 100 yards it was about two inches off.
They're not too bad - get you in the right region, and are easy to use.

The problem with the mk1 eyeball is that if you ask a mate you'll invariably see things differently!
