A trip to the seaside.

The Vesterhavet or west coast of Denmark can be stunningly beautiful albeit quite bleak with sandy beaches stretching for mile upon mile without a single person in sight. We wrapped up early today and drove across to the Vesterhavet to see what it looked like today.

It was catching a strong easterly wind today

On the sheltered side of the Klits (Dunes) the Fjord was very sheltered.

We headed off to Thorsminde to see what the harbour looked like today. As gun emplacements are a topical subject today here is a picture of one that used to guard the entrance.

Now I know these are poor pictures but the wind was blowing a gale by this point and the sand was singing. We walked out a bit and it certainly looked rough

I persuaded Christel to stand still long enough to get this one, the picture really does not do the sea or the weather justice. Maybe this is the tail end of the storms you guys have been having, this was about the third attempt to take the picture as I was getting a face full of spray and sand and was forever having to wipe the lens, it looks like I still had water on it at this point.

We called back the next day and it was a different place, flat calm with the sun out. I should post the 'after' pictures.

Sure are some great beaches - strands - in Denmark......one word of warning though..the closer you get to the border with Germany the more likely you are to see very large Germans with no clothes on playing volley ball or football on the beach....quite puts my off my pastries.....

This is why I like the Mid/Northern Jutland part of the Vesterhavet, I might see one person wayyy down the other end of the beach and that is about it. So much beach and so few people.

I did try sunbathing nude by the Limfjord, we were stopping a 5 minute walk from the beach and you could spend a day down there and not see a single person. It was a typical Danish summers day and we swam and chilled out. Felt odd to me though, not sure I could be a naturalist for more than 30 minutes.

For good beaches and few people try the Costa de la luz, the Atlantic coast of Spain. you can enjoy views like this! (Ovenpaa, I think you meant naturist not naturalist!)
