Ridiculous GP Charge

So I sent off my FAC application about a week or so ago, and they've been very quick with it; they arranged a home visit within 2 days of me sending my application. Living in Suffolk is great!
I've previously had depression so I knew the inevitable GP invoice was coming, but £48? For essentially a letter saying yes or no? That seems absolutely nuts to me. Sod all I can do about it, I just wish GPs had these pricing lists available somewhere, it seems like they make it up as they go along.
Has anyone else had this issue? From what I can see from other people, GPs charge £20-£30, so I don't know why it's so high.

GP's are greedy b@stards?
Their contract no doubt leaves them impoverished.
Unless of course all the money they will make from this will put more doctors into the practices so that the current four week wait to see a doctor (at my practice) will be reduced to something more realistic and useful to health care.

A friend of mine was asked for £90 for shotgun renewal and to make cheque payable to DR Smith, rather than the practice!!

Think yourself lucky, I can't remember where I saw it but one practice was refusing to do FAC/SGC checks as a point of "ethical principal"....

My Doctor charged £70 back in 2016... I guess I'm lucky they actaully did it, seeing the problems some people are having on this forum with 'non-compliance'..

I think I got lucky here, My GP practice couldn't arrange an operation in hospital but at least they didn't charge me.

If nothing else it is a good reason for going coterminous so you only pay the GBP60.00 once instead of twice every 5 years.

I don’t pay anything to a GP, reason being ethically they refuse!
Then again I have no need, if the firearms department want any details about my mental health they contact the surgery themselves leaving me totally out of the equation.
