Shows the ignorance of those individuals and organisations who debunk, refute and denial that loaded appropriately for short range use is not “black magic of the young and fool hardy”...!

Similar to the 30-30 short range cartridge....100gn lead...with a crimp cannelure...6gns of fast powder...the farmer, who could only afford one rifle..could shoot rabbits and small "critters".... and if a deer appeared, he could load up a factory round. Most 30 cal rifles are very suitable for correct light loads.

Very common, the Finns developed one of these loads for their 7.62x53R cartridge. Vihtavuori N310 or N320 (need to check my notes as to which one)) was developed for this particular cartridge.

the swiss developed a load called a "cats sneeze", I think it was for 7.5x55

Adam, I'd be interested to see that load if you do manage to dig it up. I have a bunch of 30 cal 110gr plated bullets I use in my M1 Carbine which I could also use in my Finnish Mosina. Trouble is finding that Vihtavuori powder near me.

It doesn't have to be a Vitavouri powder have a look at a burning rate chart and choose a powder that you can get hold of that has a similar burning rate. I have used bullseye in my 7.62x39 with cast bullets on a
25 yard range. I have also fired my Lee Enfield and P14 with cast bullets using fast powders on a 25 yard indoor range. I also use Vitavouri N310 and N320.

I would think some of the shotgun powders would do the trick - Blue dot?

What I have managed to dig out so far. N310 was originally Finnish military powder N14 a blank cartridge powder, loads with everything from a 80gn to 150 gn bullets was from 3 to 7 1/2 gns which is pretty much the recommended maximum/minimum range we use today for low velocity rounds.

My universal low velocity standard load for most cartridges is four grains of N310/N320, or any fast pistol powder. A good read of Harris's Cast Bullets in Military Rifles which is lodged in the library as well as a search, as I have written about these loads at great length here in the past, should be rewarding.

This four gn load should work just fine with the 110 gn bullet you have as this is a good weight, my go to bullet is a 115gn NOE 311316 "soupcan" bullet, Also Harris's designed SKS/AK bullets also works well out to 100 being around 135 gns.

I find Blue dot a bit on the slow side, the faster "pistol" powders. Bullseye/Red Dot, are better for the mouse fart loadings, accuracy is usually excellent out to at least 50 yrds and good 100yrd accuracy can be had with the heavier bullets.
