Good practice aside, do you store your rifles with the bolts in or out and secured elsewhere?

Some in, some out. Depending entirely on cabinet space. All the .22s apart from the Sako are bolts out, so are the No4 Mk1*, Schmidt-Rubin, Carl Gustaff and one of the M55 Tikkas.

Curious to know why the 4(T) is the exception?

It is awkward to get to the bolt release on a No4 Mk1 and even harder with a 'scope over the top of it so I just put it in the cabinet as it is.

I am assuming that "elsewhere" is another secure cabinet?

I leave all mine in as I
a, have not given it much thought,
b, have seen several shooters turn up without them.

Elsewhere is a safe with a combination lock.

I would argue that as the bolt is a pressure bearing part of the firearm, or whatever the key wording is, that it needs to be kept in a safe which has been approved by the FET for the storage of firearms at your location.

I could envisage an awkward FET making life difficult for someone regards this and I would urge anyone doing so to contact their FET saying that they were thinking of doing it and what did they have to say about it.
If they give the go a head, ask for a letter stating so.

Maybe me being too literal on this one,
