Hi, I'd like to remove the stock from my O/U as I've got an intermittent problem with the second barrel not firing. I've removed the stock bolt but the stock and receiver still seem tightly joined. From the exploded diagram, the only possibility I can see is a screw underneath the safety catch. However, I don't want to lever off the catch if the screw doesn't need to come out. It may be that the stock is tight and requires some gentle tapping on the stock bolt to separate the parts. Not wanting to risk damage, thought I'd seek advice here first.

Isn't there a screw at the back of the tang that holds the trigger plate on? Is that the one you are looking at?

I've worked on these somewhat when the local airport had them and kept breaking them but then they changed to a different make in 20ga. Unfortunately that was a few years ago.

ETA: You could always try this link - schematic - Remember Google is our friend. It shows a screw where you describe (#59 Trigger Plate Screw). I thought it was longer than shown here but then it has been a while. This looks like it goes in to the post on the rear of the trigger plate to hold it all on.
Try it, what could possibly go wrong?

that's the diagram I had looked at. After looking at lots of pics of the Bettinsoli actions, I decided that that screw wasn't involved in attaching the stock. So, I screwed the stock bolt in a couple of turns and tried a gentle whack with a rubber dead-blow mallet and it came away easily. It was just tight, so all happy now.
