.223 or .243

I have a slot on my FAC for a .223/5.56 for vermin & target CSR with a moderator.
Looking around for a bolt action rifle and their seems to be more choice in .243 than .223
Is it worth me putting in a variation to swap the .223 for a .243 or ask if I can have both on my licence or is the difference really a .1% thing?
Tom.

243 can be a barrel burner.

From what I understand about CSR a detachable 10+ shot magazine is preferable, there's less options for this in .243.
Before you have your licence varied, it might be best to seek opinions from those on here that shoot that discipline.

.223 dominates CSR for a reason !
Im not sure I have ever seen a .243 used.

The .223 would be my choice for vermin other than a 22-250 which cannot be used for CSR.

I shot my first CSR match with a .243Win because at the time it was the only rifle I had with ten round mag.
Dread to think what barrel-life would be with the quick-succession, long-string shooting of CSR!
Now use .223 (fast twist for the 77gr bullets.)

I may be wrong, but isn't .243 the minimum deer-legal calibre in E&W? Hence a decision on what you want the rifle for.

No, you can use a .22cf for Muntjac and CWD in E&W if so conditioned.
