Primers Popping !!!

I have a 6.5x47 Lapua and although very accurate, its popping primers on a all to regular basis.

The load is as follows:- 35.5gr RL15, 123gr Lapua bullets, CCI 450 primers, seated well off the lands - (so no over pressure).
The rifle groups in the .2's and the rounds are heading down range at 2915fps.

I'm not getting hard extractions of any sort, but each time the primer pops a small bit of primer metal gets into the bolt, fowls the bolt and results in an inability for any further shots to be fired till the bolt is stripped and primer metal removed.

Having looked at a number of variables I habe been able to rule out most but am wondering if it could be the firing pin firing to far forward ???

Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Rob

I am not sure it would be FP protrusion but it is worth measuring all the same, is the end of the pin burnt at all? The hot gasses can damage the end of the pin so once primers start popping the damages pin causes the primer to be cut slightly and they pop even more.

How many are going, is it 1/10 1/5 or just random and have is it just one batch of primers? Is it cratering any on the ones that do not pop?

Out of interest how many rounds have you put through the rifle?

I'd say it's had 300 rds through the rifle, it's an AE MK II - rifle with the sane .308 firing pin.

There was a thread on snipers hide about this and there were various opinions about firing pin sizes and have them bushed, I just did a google search " small rifle primer firing pin" and it came up about half way down page, if I were more technically savvy I'd post a link (sorry), might be worth a read no definitive answers but plenty to think about.

All the best phil

Any cratering on the other cases and any chance of a picture of popped and normal fired?
